When Max told me he had a loose tooth I didn't believe it. He's been pulling that nonsense since his older friends have been loosing teeth. Then he started wiggling it around and I knew the dreaded day had come. There are few things that give me the heebie geebies like loose teeth...and heaven knows I did not want to pull that thing out!
So I told Max to pull it out. He kinda started to freak out so I told him to leave it alone and it would fall out. Suddenly he says "It's out!" and pulls it out of his mouth. This was followed by "Why is it bloody? Am I bleeding? Why does the blood taste so gross?" Yes, apparently the tooth falling out quickly lost its magic.
Until the tooth fairy negotiations started. "Is the tooth fairy coming tonight? How much will she give me? Will I see her?" After much parental debate Eric and I settled on giving him a gold dollar coin (Eric was trying to give him $5, but I think that sets a horrible inflation precedent for our future tooth losers). I asked Max in the morning if the the tooth fairy came and he said, rather disgusted "Yeah, she only left me a nickel!" I explained to him that it was a gold dollar and he was super excited. I guess anything looks better than a nickel!
