Summer is Officially Here

I saw Mom packing up the chair, the toys, the towels, and the cooler. I had my suspicions...but when I got doused with sunscreen and had flip flops on my feet I knew it was true--BEACH TIME! Nothing signals the entrance of summer like the first beach trip. I couldn't wait.

Aunt Shalaine and Baby Marie got in on the beautiful beach action (okay it was overcast and windy, but who cares?)

Cuz was there of course.

I brought my old blue bucket for Marie. Lots of good times were had in that bucket in my early beach days...until I got big enough that I could flip it over.

Aunt Jill met us there too! She's not too big on pictures, so this is all you get.

Cuz hasn't logged too many hours on the beach so I showed him the ropes. Mom brought the big shovel and dug us a nice big pit.

Cuz and I spent a lot of time jumping into the pit and pushing sand in. Mom got lots of exercise redigging the pit! It was such a great way to kick off the summer and I can't wait for more looonnnggg beach days!

Another Redlands Gem

Another Saturday, another day to wonder "what are we going to do?" We decided to stay local again and check out Olive Market. It's a little eatery on Olive street that specializes in locally grown food and old fashion sodas. Sounds like a perfect place to have lunch!

It was a really cool little place. The fridges were packed with old fashioned glass bottled sodas and freshly made sandwiches. I went right for the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and orange soda. Dad had turkey and cheese and Mom tried out the greek salad and soup.

We sat outside to eat and enjoy the beautiful day. Obviously Dad likes his original cola...he even gave me a few sips!

I can't believe it took us so long to discover this place! The food was delicious. Mom can't stop raving about my PB&J! I guess you don't have to leave Redlands to discover tasty treats.

Self Portrait

Inside of me is a budding artist dying to get out. Sure I don't love to color...that's because photography is my true passion. No one would ever know this because I'm not allowed to even think about touching a camera. Mom left her camera out and for five minutes my true Ansel Adams came out!
I took all these pictures myself...of myself. Pretty skilled if you ask me! I managed to take the pictures backwards and still get my face (in extreme close up--but I meant to do that).

SMILE!
So what do you think? I'm I ready for the MOMA yet?

Boys and Their Toys

Last weekend Dad, Mom and I went to a Classic Car Show and Chili Cook Off in Redlands. It was so awesome! There were tons of old cars in the park, some as old as 1918! The only bad part was I couldn't get inside...which I tried to do several times. This is a picture of Mom's dream car. It was even an automatic (whatever that means).
No Mom, we can't get in it and drive away.

Here is another old truck that is all girly. I thought Mom should go for the white and pink lightning.

I love grocery store trucks and can spot them on the road from miles away. This was a perfect old Stater Brothers truck and I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame! This might be my dream car:)

This old police car was pretty cool. They also had an old dog catcher truck and delivery truck from 1920.

I have have to say the low point was the chili cook off. By the time we got there half the people were out of chili and I refused to eat all but one of the others.

I did end up with a corn dog in the end...so I can't complain too much! I can't wait to do this again next year.

Closing Out May

I got to spend the last 2 awesome weekends in May with my Paga in Carlsbad. I've done lots of posts about hanging at Paga's time share...and we did lots of the fun things we always do when we go there. Lots of pool time, a little beach time, and eating out are some of the classic activities. We did some new things this time. Mom, Winston, and I took a walk down to the lagoon every day. I collected a little piece of nature each time and left it on this ledge outside our room. By the end of the week I had a pretty sweet collection!
We took a break from the pool one day to go to Balboa Park and the Fleet Science Museum. It is such a cool place! We ate lunch by this huge fountain out front. Unfortunately Mom wouldn't let me get in.

The museum has a whole room for kids just my age. There are lots of tubes that vacuum up balls and shoot them out other places. Paga managed to get his ball into the basket up top and is pretty stoked about it:)

Here is a little house that matches the little grocery store and the little factory they also had.

Starting work early at the little conveyor belt. There were also computers that Mom let me touch and play with. It was pretty fun...and crowded. After a while we went downstairs to check out some of the other activities.

This was one of my favorite activities. A jet of air kept this ball spinning up in the air. You could move the tube around and it would move the ball.

The best part was knocking the ball out of the air stream though. My Mom was not too thrilled with that game.

Paga's favorite room was the block room. There were lots of tables and huge bins full of blocks. There were castles and houses all around the room that people had built from blocks. Paga got his tower pretty high before....

I knocked it over. Paga was sad...but I was laughing pretty hard.

I got to spend time with my cousins while I was there. Cuz was there one weekend and my other cousins came down to go swimming the next weekend. It was a great way to close out an awesome month.
