For the third summer in a row we went camping in Carpenteria. Aunt Jen and Uncle Jeff have been six years now!! We sure feel lucky that they have included us in their trips. This year Aunt Lou Ann and Uncle Jon and their family joined us.
Here is most of the group on our first night there enjoying yummy tin foil dinners.
We weren't quite sure how Slimes would do. He was only a few months old when we went last year and now he is walking all over the town. We hooked up his high chair to the picnic table, which worked out well for all his eating.
The biggest test was how well he would do sleeping in the tent. We had a new GIANT tent this year called the Hampton. There was plenty of room for all of our stuff and the pack n' play.
I don't know how he did it but he managed to sleep through Mom coughing, birds squeaking, train horns blaring, dogs barking, and other babies screaming. Not to mention he slept in until 8 every morning!
I guess he just loves being in the great outdoors.
We spent a good amount of time around the camp fire. My best buddy Kate was always willing to share her camp chair with me.
Jamie was rocking some amazing camp outfits. Not to mention the camping love seat she's sitting in:)
This year I was riding solo on our bike rides. I've been training around Huntington Beach...which wasn't such a big help because there are no hills! I was bringing up the back of the pack most of the time, but it felt good to be on my own two wheels.
Here's the bike gang (minus Aunt Jen taking the picture) at the Seal Sanctuary. We weren't early enough to see them up on the beach, but we saw a few shinny heads in the water.
Me, Corrie, Slimes, Jamie, Brooke, Kate, Curran, Buzz, and Luke
One good looking group of kids!
Captain Slimes
We went down to the tar cliffs. Thankfully no one got tar on their clothes, especially Slimes.
Buzz took one for the team and tasted the tar.
Do I have anything on my mouth?
Another awesome part of camping at Carpinteria is being at the beach all day. Dad always digs us a GIANT pit.
My awesome girl cousins would take me really far out in the water on a blow up tube and then send me in on the waves. It was probably my favorite thing of the whole trip, I couldn't get enough!
I also went boogie boarding, surfing, and paddle boarding. There are lots of kelp beds at this beach. When I went paddle boarding with Dad we found this huge bulb of sea weed.
We spent so much time at the beach that Jude and I had the pink cheeks and noses to prove it!
Carpenteria camping isn't complete without at least one trip to the Spot. Our favorite burger joint.
Slimes loved his little baby pool at the beach. It was especially great because the water was super warm after an hour or so.
Dad put a slide into this pit. Nothing like a little sand surfing.
Our last night in camp we headed down to the beach for a little light up boccie ball. My girl cousins came to the rescue again and played with me.
I even won a couple of games!
Until next year, Happy Carpenteria Camping!
