Huntington Beach Does the 4th Right!

Our family had been hearing how awesome the 4th of July is in Huntington Beach. We couldn't wait to try out all the activities the city had going on throughout the day. Uncle Jon, Aunt Lou Ann, Jamie, Corrie, Curran, and Luke came to see what all the fuss was about also!
My Mom and Dad started out early with the 5K run. Dad offered to take me in the stroller but I decided to stay home with Slimes and my cousins.
I think my parents just wanted the T-shirts.
Next on the agenda was the parade. They close down a lot of the streets for the day, including PCH, for the parade. Uncle Cort, Aunt Shalaine, Axel, Marie and Coco hung out with us for the morning too.
Luke and Aunt Lou Ann got a birds eye view of the parade.
Don't you love how we are all looking in different directions? Very hipster.
 The Fam
It is cool to walk around down town because all the houses are decorated for the 4th and its like a giant party going on all day!
I was a little too tired to walk home so Slimes shared his stroller with me. Doesn't he look happy about it?
While we were walking home on PCH....that's right down the middle of the closed down street, we saw this GIANT waterside. I pretty much spent the rest of the day begging my Mom and Dad to go on it. In the afternoon we finally walked back downtown and Curran, Luke, and I took our chances on the soaped down slide.
 It was AWESOME!
Curran took the face first approach.

Luke went so fast that Mom didn't capture a picture of him coming down. I'm glad the guys could go down with me.
We had planned on going to the beach for the rest of the day, but it was cold and cloudy. So we just hung out and played XBox. This isn't a great picture but it captures the action:)
We had a tasty BBQ dinner. Mom made these tasty brownie/marshmallow/fruit kabobs for dessert.
They were even better with chocolate syrup!
Since fireworks were legal in Huntington Beach this year everyone was putting on their own shows! Someone even lit the middle of the street on fire! Dad bought a huge box of fireworks so we could have our own fun.
We started off with the poppers Aunt Lou Ann brought, worked our way through the sparklers and ended with the fountains.

 Sparkler action
Corrie rocking the sparkler
Jude LOVED all the fireworks. Every time one would go off he would say "Ba Boom"!
He was dying to get his hand on the sparklers, but he's a little young for the pyrotechnics this year.
Jamie was helping Slimes "enjoy" the fireworks.

Aunt Lou Ann's brother and his two kids came to enjoy the firework show with us. Here is the whole gang of kids outside our house before heading down to the beach.
It was awesome to just grab some blankets and a couple blocks down to the sand to watch the fireworks at the pier. Mom was supposed to bring some patriotic music with her....but she forgot.
We think the little dots in this picture is ash falling from all the private firework shows going on around us.
 Perfect seats!
See how much Slimes loves fireworks?
I had such a fun filled day that I couldn't keep my eyes open until the end of the fireworks. I'm so glad we could celebrate with our family in our new house in Huntington Beach!
