A few years ago Grandma started a tradition with me of building a gingerbread house the weekend after Thanksgiving. Mom kept up the tradition while Grandma was on her mission, but I was excited to do it with Grandma again. Mom and I made sure to buy a kit so we were ready to build when Grandma came.
I picked out a kit at WalMart (first mistake) that said Chocolate Gingerbread House Kit (second mistake). We assumed it was chocolate flavored gingerbread.
Mom knew we were in trouble when Grandma opened the kit and pulled out a huge bag of chocolate melts...and then plastic molds. We had to MAKE the house out of melted chocolate. Mom and Grandma gave it a try but after remelting some of the sides of the house, dumping a full mold on the kitchen rug, and having part of the house fall and crack apart, the chocolate house was abandoned.
Mom went to Costco (as she should have done in the first place) and bought the right kit. Sadly Grandma and Grandpa had to go home before we got the new kit and Mom helped me and Slimes build the house.
Turned out pretty good in the end, don't you think?
